Louisa Fairclough lives and works in Bristol and co-founded BEEF with the core aim of supporting and nurturing experimental film practice in Bristol. Her work takes the form of film loops, performances, field recordings and drawings.
Louisa graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art (MFA) in 2000 and is currently an Associate Lecturer at Oxford Brookes and University of Falmouth. She lectured at the Slade from 2002 – 2008 and co-curated Mezz from 2009 – 2011.
Louisa was artist-in-residence at Metal in Southend working on field recordings and drawings for Estuary Festival in September 2016. She exhibited at Contact Film Festival at Apiary Studios, London (2016), Channel at Penarth Pier Pavilion (2016) and Stories in the Dark at Beaney Museum, Canterbury (2016).
Absolute Pitch was commissioned by Whitstable Biennale 2014, Jeannie was commissioned by Bristol New Music and Arnolfini in 2014, Song of Grief was included in Guy Sherwin’s Film in Space at Camden Art Centre (2013) and Bore Song was shown at Ha gamle Prestegard in Norway before being acquired by Contemporary Art Society for Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum: The Wilson (2013). Louisa has had two solo shows with Danielle Arnaud in 2011 and 2014 and is working towards a third in 2017. Her drawings have been acquired by public and private collections with two drawings selected for Jerwood Drawing Prize (2011).
